Belated Happy Fathers Day, Deer!

                                        Father’s Day Sunrise

Yesterday, for me was just another day, sitting around trying to make plans.  I hope that all the fathers had a wonderful day celebrating with their families in whatever ways they could.  I know that I sure do miss my Dad, even though he has been gone for a long time.

Sandi and the kids came out to take me to the store, as I was running low on some things.  Today, she will be taking me to physical therapy.  I have been doing exercises using a pulley and cord system to gain more mobility.   They will probably give me more exercises today.  I try to do those at home periodically throughout the day.  If I get lazy, I feel the difference, so I do them.

When I got up yesterday, I actually saw a couple of deer in the reserve next to my site.  They spotted me and were gone and haven’t seen them since.  There seems to be some other animal that raids the Frisbee Feeders.  The rock that I use to weigh them down was moved and it was empty.  One of my neighbors, Travis said that it was probably a coyote.

Travis also helped me get “My Spot II” leveled.  It is so nice not having to walk uphill or downhill from one end or the other.  Thank You Travis.  He has also given me ideas on where to find a dinghy.  I am still searching.  Wish me luck in finding a small vehicle that I can flat tow behind the MH.

Well, I’ve got to get ready for PT, so I hope that you are all having a great week.

Hump Day

Here it is another week gone.  I’m still trying  to survive without being too bored.  Yesterday I went for my first day of out patient therapy where they did an evaluation and I acquired more exercises to do. The most recent is to use a pulley to increase my arm mobility (stretches). I will begin the regular sessions on Monday.

The temperatures have been rising here in Ft Worth, flirting with the triple digits.  Fortunately it has been quite comfortable in the early morning and if I put the awning out it shades the side of “My Spot II” and the A/C hasn’t come on until a little before noon.  I’m so glad that I found a park where my electric is included.

I finally got a picture of a cardinal at my make/shift bird feeder.  It has been out for more than a week before he found it.  They are just cheap Frisbees. One has seed and the other water both weighted down with rocks.  That seems to be the only wildlife that has come to visit.  The only other visits that Angel alerts me to are people coming and going, a couple of cats and a little dog that gets loose.  As you see, not much happening here.

I hope that you are all having a great week.

Rehab News

The long awaited appointment with Dr. Milne.  Sandi picked me up and we headed  out.  When we got there, of course we had to wait.  I’m glad that I have finally found a book that I could really get into.  Dr. Milne had the answer that I was waiting for,  “You can get rid of that sling.”  Yea!  It has been a bit uncomfortable now that the temperatures are getting warmer, so I liked that answer.  Now I go back to the normal routine, but adding active exercises and using my right arm normally with care.  I need to strengthen it along with the left arm.

He also gave me a prescription for  out  patient therapy.  On the way home we stopped to schedule those visits.  He also cleared me for driving, but not for driving “My Spot II”.  It doesn’t do me to much good, as I don’t have a “toad”, so now I have to be on the look out for an inexpensive car to be towed all four down.  It would only be for getting around to the store and appointments.  It would also Sandi out so that she wouldn’t have to take me places.  Maybe then I can start to looking for a part time job, if I can be cleared to do that.

In the mean time I hope that you all are having a great week staying cool, dry and safe.
