I’m CA Legal and Settled Into My New Digs

 

This past week before moving I had to get My Spot II legal in CA.  I decided that I would switch back to CA from to TX.  I don’t see me going back to TX anytime soon and in order to renew my plates there I would have to get the MH inspected before they would send me the new registration. A couple of weeks ago I started the process and found out that I would have to get the MH smogged before I could get the new plates for CA.  I just paid for everything so that I could get it done just before I moved, as far as my driver’s licence I was able to just get a duplicate. We all know how the best laid plans work. Ted came out Wednesday after work to help me get the MH ready to move and then we went out for  dinner before he went home.  I got everything inside secured so that I could leave early Thursday morning to get it smogged and then go to the Navato DMV to finish the paperwork.  So much for the plan.  The first place that I went, he wasn’t able to smog it, so I had to find somewhere else to do it. It turned out better, because the new place was cheaper and they gave me a coupon for a free “The Works” carwash.  It was a good thing that I called the DMV to find out how long it would take and found out that it was a state holiday and they were closed.  Great!  Okay, I would have to do it on Friday.  Fortunately the MH passed the smog test.  Yea!  It was back to China Camp for the night. Thank you Jim (the other camp host) for helping me get the MH backed into the space through the gate which is a real tight fit. In the morning I left early for the DMV and was lucky that I was able to get it all done and was back to the park by 10am. I’M LEGAL!  Jim helped me again. Later that afternoon I went into the city (SF) to get Ted, so that he could help me by driving the MH while I drive the Mini. We went to have dinner at the Spinaker Restaurant in Sausalito to avoid the rush hour traffic.  We shared an excellant meal. It was early to bed and we were unhooked and gone by 7:30am and pulled into Delta Bay RV by 9:30am.

Later that afternoon I took him the closest BART station in Pittsburgh so that he could meet Leslie and then they would go back to the city.

The Delta is beautiful.  This is nearby off Brannan Island Road.

I think that this will be a good place to spend the summer.  I believe that I will be working in Activities 15 hours a week.  I will see Kim tomorrow to find out what my schedule will be.  If there is anyone of you out there that is looking for a place to workamp for the summer she still needs more workers.

More Paintings & Getting Ready to Leave China Camp

After finally getting past the blank page, I have been painting from photos that I have taken around China Camp.  The two below were taken from oppisite sides of China Camp Fishing Village.

The scene from China Camp.  It will be a different view once I have moved on Saturday.  The past few weeks have been a little busy getting ready to move.  My Texas registration for the MH expired on March 1st.  Since I probably won’t be going back to Texas anytime soon, I have decicded that I needed to register it here in California.  I will have to get it smogged on Thursday and then take it to the DMV.  When I finnish I will go back to China Camp until Saturday when Ted will help me drive to Delta Bay RV Park and set up at the new site.  In the meantime it’s time to get the inside ready for the move.

I have been here for six months, so there is a lot that has to be secured.  Most of it will just be put on the floor in tubs.  There is some that will be kept in place with tension rods.  The upolstered bench between the captain and passenger chairs just fits on the daybed made up from the dinette.  I’ve tried keeping things organized all along so it shouldn’t take long get it all in order.  Ted will come out tommorrow night to get me ready to roll.  He has been a great help each time I move.

Punching, Painting And Preparing

 

I have been keeping busy while still keeping an eye on the parking lot waiting for campers to need help.  There haven’t been many campers because of the constant rain, although there are those few die-hards that don’t mind getting wet, but most come prepared.

My newest craft that I have learned is needle felting, using wool roving to create these animals and to add a design to a reversable Japanese Tote Bag that I made with woven woolen squares. (Also a new craft)  The first one was the Scottie and the next is one that is supposed to look like Angel.

The day after my Son’s birthday, the three of us (Ted, Leslie and I) went on a road trip and stopped for lunch and celebrated with a shared brownie sunday.  Yummmm!

     

Ted is hard to buy for,so I painted a picture of Leslie’s favorite flower, Tulips, and gave it to her.  I figured that if I made her happy, that Ted would be happy too.  It worked.

 

With all the rain that we have had I hadn’t been in the campground, but took advantage of a light shower to get some pictures for painting subjects.  So here is a short tour of the China Camp Campground.  As you can see the creeks have been running.  The turkeys are out in force.  This Tom Turkey seemed to be herding his hens where he wanted them to go.  Even one of the trails is totally flooded,( about a foot deep).

Now for the preparing part of this blog.  I will be leaving  China Camp at the beginning of April and heading for my new “Gig”.  This time I will be East of San Francisco in the Sacramento Delta at Delta Bay RV.  It is a former KOA now owned by a private family with 120 sites.  There is a lot of work to be done and there will be a lot more workampers.  So now I have to get ready for the move.  I have been here for 6 months, but fortunately I haven’t aquired a lot of stuff and have tried to lighten the load.  There still is a lot that I can probably get rid of that I really don’t need or use.

Continued Crafting / Trip To SF / Search Completed

I have been keeping busy, even though the CG has been full the last couple of weekends.  As  I’ve said before The CG practically runs itself.  While I sit near the front windows where I can see what’s going on, I work on the dolls and a new craft, needle felting.  In addition to the scottie above (made out of an old tartan skirt), I have made several animals, (some shown below).  I needed a place to store the doll clothes, so I used a plactic shoe box and made the cover into a bed.

 

 

A while back I purchaced a “grab bag” for $2.00 not knowing what was in it and in it was a couple of rolls of duct tape.among about a $100.00 worth of other stuff.  Above a couple of suitcases and some doll boots

The little scottie is my first attempt at needle felting, next came a replica of Angel.  Then there is a little doll for the bigger doll and a couple of sort of flat dolls made from craft felt.  There’s even a dog bed that the scottie is in, made from a tent tie down strap.

   

These two dolls were made from one pair of scocks.  The second one is wearing a kilt made from that same tartan skirt.

A couple of weeks ago I went into San Francisco to meet Leslie to go to the museum, only to find out that they were closed on Mondays. We ended up at the beach for a light lunch and went back to wait for Ted in his apartment.  We then went out for dinner at Park Chow.  Always a good time with family and food.  I got back home after dark, mainly to avoid the traffic going out of the city.

    

I do believe the search is over.  Last Monday I checked out a family owned CG in rthe Sacramento Delta called Park Delta Bay.  There will be a lot of workampers doing a lot of things.  It used to be a KOA with 120 campsites plus cabins.  There are tennis courts, a pool, activity center, laundry and a store.  It is about an hour and a half from here and about an hour from Sacramento, but only 30 minutes west of Lodi or Stockton.  It will be totally different from what I have been doing, yet it will also be fewer hours and more amenities.  I will be done here April 1st and will move there whenTed can help me by driving the MH.
