More RV Research and More Painting

After church yesterday, Helen from church and I went to another RV show in Fairfield,  I took the wrong exit, so we ended up taking a short detour.  That's what happens when you get to talking and not paying attention to street signs.   No big deal, just saw more of Fairfield.  We finally found the mall.  I really wanted check out the DP, Class A's.  I have a wish list, but I'm afraid that I can't afford everything on the list.  Who knows, when the time is right, everything will fall into place.  I really did like the Tiffin Phaeton.  It had the whole list.

                                 DSCF0001

Helen suggested we look at a Prairie Schooner.  I still like fifth wheels too.  It all comes back to how much I have at the time and what's available. One of the good things about going to RV shows is that I occasionally meet people that are doing it and are willing to share a lot of information.

After checking it all out, we stopped at Panda Express for lunch, and ate out outside so that Angel didn't have to stay in the car.  Then we stopped at Camping World in Vacaville on the way back.  There wasn't that much there, although I checked out a Truck Camper that I thought Gypsy might be interested in.

We headed back to Sacramento around 3 pm.  The traffic was horrible westbound.  It was just like a parking lot all the way back to almost Sacramento.  We were so glad we were going the other way.  We both enjoyed the short road trip, and Angel was happy to just relax after climbing all those stairs.

DSCF0003She always rides comfy and safe in her little crate.

It's early Tuesday morning, getting ready for work.  I started this yesterday and was rudely interrupted by a power outage.  I just went to bed early.  I will have to finish this  after work.

Later:   I have found something that helps me get through the work day, painting.  I have a small watercolor field kit.  I work on a painting in between calls and on breaks.  Yes, my supervisor knows that I do it.  It is okay as long as I use very little water, since I am near the keyboard, and my stats remain okay.  I want to build up portfolio and make prints to sell.

I took tomorrow off and my son will be coming to visit and hang out with me to celebrate my birthday.  I have no idea if he has anything planned.  I'll let you know later

Cleaning drawers, More painting

I finally went through some of my drawers in a built in cabinet in the dining room.  They are the ones that I just put stuff in to get it out of sight.  I'd bet that I'm not the only one that has one of those. There are six of them.  They are cleaned out and organized.  I tossed a bunch of odds and ends.  I also added a tabletop fountain to the stack that goes to a yard sale.

I worked a little more on the big painting.  I'll will be glad when it is finished.  I took a break and caught up on reading blogs. I thought about going to Fairfield to an RV show, but decided not to go, but might go after church tomorrow.

Angel got her ride today while I ran some errands and got he car washed.  That's about all that I did today.

Painting, One in progress, One finished

Today it was cooler, so I decided to work on the "big one".  I started this painting about three years ago, but life just got in the way and it got put away.  I've done a small one just to get an idea as to what I wanted to do, but it is changing. The theme is Baptism or Resurrection. I'm not sure which yet.  However it turns out, I need to finish it, the sooner the better.

DSCF0002                        DSCF0004

The one on the left is just the under painting for those those asked to see it.    The one on the right is the one that I finished.

After I had some leftover Thai food for lunch, I took a ride just to see where Bass Lake Road went.  I thought it might be a "destination", but no such luck.  It wasn't much of anything.

I just got a call from my daughter in Phoenix,  If it is possible, she may take over my property later this year or early next year.   Hopefully that might work.  Time will tell.

Nothing more for today. Thank you all for your comments.  I really do appreciate each and every one of them.         I hope that you all enjoy your weekend.

Housework and Another visit.

Today I got a little more done around the house and started making my To Do lists.

I went through some of my books.  It's going to be hard to decide which ones I keep.  Many of them I use in my art work.   Called my sister, no news there, but we still talked for nearly 3 hours.  Update on my brother's surgery.  It was successful and he is back home in Sitka AK.  My SIL is happy he's home.

I got a call from Jenny, my visitor from Georgia, wanting to know if I wanted to go out for Thai food.  of course I said yes.  We met at Thai Smile, about a mile from her hotel.  She came back home with me.  I had asked her if she would like a Japanese Tea Set that I have.  I wrapped it up for her to take back home to Georgia.  I also gave her one of my watercolor paintings.  I was glad that I was able to see her again before she left.  I'll see her again when I'm out there.

Since tomorrow won't be as hot as it was earlier this week,  I'm going to do some more work on the painting that I want to finish this year.  I don't think I will ever do something that large again.  I'll stick with watercolor, it doesn't take up that much space.

It's a short post today.  I don't know where the time went today.

Visit with a friend from Georgia, and More

The work week is over.   I am taking tomorrow off as a “workitis” day.   I figure a four day weekend is better than a three day weekend.   I really need to tackle some of the STUFF.   Maybe there is something to the lists that Marikay uses.  I think that I will try some lists of my own.  Thank you Marikay.  I will start in the morning when it is cooler.

I met with an old friend’s daughter for dinner on Monday after work.  I hadn’t seen Jenny in maybe 22 years.  At that time she graciously let me stay in her room while I was visiting her mother in Jonesboro GA.  She is all grown up and has a family of her own. Her youngest will be in high school this year.  My how time flies!  She travels with her job and is here in Sacramento for the week.  Hopefully we ca get together again before she leaves on Friday.    She and her mom are some of the people that I will visit when I get out there on the road.

DSCF0004 DSCF0005

This is Jenny                                       This is her mom, Mary

They sure do look alike, don’t they?

I’m also including a picture of Angel while she was intently  watching NATURE, a TV program on PBS, about Snow Leopards.     She was so intent that she didn’t even respond when I called her.

DSCF0003

She wants to chase the cats next door, so maybe she thought she could chase them too.

Three uneventful days at work, although I was able to start a watercolor painting.  In the early morning it wasn’t too busy, so  I could work on it in between calls.  Needless to say Wednesday just flew by.   My supervisor told me about a craft fair that they are thinking about having close to the holidays, where we can sell things that we have made as a fund raiser.  We would donate a percentage of what we make to a charity.

DSCF0005

It’s almost finished.  I used a picture that Judy, Travels with Emma, took (with her permission).  I really have to do more.   I also have to  put some things together that I have already done to build up some inventory.

There is so much to do, with all the sorting, tossing, yard work, painting the walls and ceilings, sometimes I think that I won’t have enough time to do it all.  I just have to get more focused.  I’d better get started on those lists.

Hope that you all have a wonderful weekend, and Gypsy,  I hope that you have good news at the doctors visit tomorrow.

Thank you all for visiting

Shopping and More Research

Sorry.  Another day got away without a post.  Yesterday we had to do some shopping.  I say we because Angel was able to go with me.  It was for her.  I was getting extremely low on dog food, so off we went to Pet Smart for her food.  I only have to get a 10 pound bag, that lasts about three months.  I also got a small retractable leash for her and a little bag that contains pick up bags for her (you know what).  DSCF0002 That’s my baby in the shopping cart with our purchases.  Of course she got her treat for being a good shopper.  I’ve been thinking about getting one or those bags to put her in so that I might be able to take her into a store and not have to leave her in the car, even when it isn’t hot out.  When it is hot or even warm out  I just leave her home in her crate.  Does anyone ever use them?

I didn’t feel like going home since the weather was so nice.  So I took a ride out to  Camping World out in Rocklin just to see what’s new and exciting.  Nothing that I need.  Since I was out that way, I stopped at another RV dealer to check out some  Class A’s.  The salesman that I talked to was very informative and suggested that for what I am intending on doing, that a diesel pusher might work best.  It would have more cargo space for my business and I could possibly put my large printer and heat press (combined weight is several hundred pounds) in one of those pull out bins/drawers along with some of the product.  It could also handle the extra weight.  In the meantime, I will make up my wish list for what I want and what I need in the “perfect” RV for me. I know, I know, there is no such thing as a perfect rig, but I can hope, can’t I?

That was yesterday.  Today, after church I had to go back to Pet Smart to return the leash.  It would not retract,  I got another one that works just fine.  I already had one, but wanted a smaller one.  I’ll give the other one to my daughter who has a bigger dog.

Not a busy weekend, but added more info to the research.

Before I close,

I just wanted to share a picture of my grandson and new great grandson.

Nick and Carter

I really like it even though the lighting isn’t the best.

He is in the Navy and will be moving to Hawaii in a couple of weeks when Jessica  and the baby gets cleared by the doctor for travel.  Their stuff is already on the way there.

Back in my van

I brought back the convertible after work yesterday.  So I am in my own mini van.  Everything is familiar and comforting, which surprised me.  I really haven’t liked the van.  It is too big for just me and since I have no plans to remain in a stationary home, I won’t need to have a vehicle to move stuff in.  I’ll keep it until I actually make the move to an RV though.,

I got up later than usual this morning, got dressed, started the laundry  finished one load and started another, but I was still tired and went back to bed for another 2 hours.  When I finally got up, started moving furniture and electronics.  Of course I am technologically challenged so am surprised that I even  attempted moving these things.  I got it all set up and needed to send in an order through the internet and the internet wasn’t there.  Uh oh, now what?   I had to run out to an art supply store to get some watercolor paper, so I put the internet on hold.  I also had to get a couple of brackets to support a dropdown leaf on table so that I could  put my printers on it.  I put the bracket on, that wasn’t hard,so now

DSCF0002 DSCF0003

I could focus on getting back online.   SUPRISE!!!!   I fixed it.  It was only one cord that had come loose.  Yea!   When my kids finally read this they will be shocked that I didn’t even call one of them.  For me, it gives me confidence for when I am out there on my own.

Oh yea, I also finally got electricity to the waterfall and watered all the plants.  That’s it for today.  Not sure what I’ll do tomorrow, but whatever it is it will another day closer.

More calls, More training, More news

Back at work, it’s another boring day.  At least system issues are fixed.  Even had some periods where I could catch up on reading blogs in between calls.  I’m finally caught up on your blog Pidge, enjoyed it.

One more session of training on a new addition to our information system.  Fortunately each time they update it, it gets a little bit easier to handle calls.  But I’m still looking forward to not having to take calls at all, unless it’s friends wanting to know how retirement is going.

Looks like I will have to give up the “Drop Top” tomorrow.  I really have enjoyed driving it, especially on the road trip with Gypsy. (Thanks for keeping me company).  I think Angel liked it most of the time too.

I talked to the adjuster today and he did not approve the supplemental claim.  He said that it should have been fixed the first time and to have Jack’s manager call him.  I then called Jack and he had talked with his manager and they are just going to fix it and not involve the insurance company.  Evidently there were things said and inferences made,so there are some bad feelings between them and Jack doesn’t want to deal with the insurance company any more. Jack told me not to worry about it, and it should be fixed early tomorrow.

Other than a run to Wal Mart for milk and to check out their recent remodel, nothing more to report.  Gotta get to bed.  One more day to “rise and shine” early for work this week.

Unusual day at work, Experiment at home

From the very beginning of the day it was different.  We had system issues from 5 am until when I left at 4 pm. For all I know it is still going on now.  Hopefully everything will be fixed before I go in tomorrow.

Even with all that going on, all of a sudden we hear this ear splitting sound.  All we wanted to do was get out quick.  It was the Fire Alarm.  When that happens we have to get off the phones (politely of course) and get out as fast as we can.  I shut the computer down, grabbed my purse and water bottle and was down the stairs and outside to our team gathering spot.  Everyone has to accounted for.  It was hot, so I was glad that I brought my water and tried to find some shade.  Probably within 7 or 8 minutes we had the Fire Department show up.  I guess that it wasn’t a drill, although I have no idea why the alarm went off.

 DSCF0001

It did give us a break from back to back calls.  We were off the phones for about 30 minutes.

When I got home I started moving furniture around trying to get an idea how it would look if we do convert the large living room into a third bedroom.  It might just work.  Now I will have to move it back or at least rearrange all of it.

That’s about it for today.  I’ve been getting help from Angel, she’s trying to get her two cents (or paws) worth by jumping up on my lap and stepping  the laptop.

.DSCF0014

Had to shoo her off and onto the sofa.

One more day closer, Shorter Honey Do List

Yesterday my son Ted came to help me do some things around the my mobile home.

As usual, we went to church and afterwards Ted and Steve went to the shooting range with Ted’s new shotgun.  They seemed to have had a lot of fun.  Although there were quite a few of the pigeons (clay) that got away.

DSCF0003Earlier he helped me pick out a new wireless mouse.  Saturday night my wired one died.  The new one is made by Logitech.  I really like it.  I just don’t like the finger pad or whatever it is called on my laptop.

When he got back, he installed a new thermostat, put the screen in the screen door and fixed the the screened gazebo.  (The top part had come loose in the last major wind storm that we had a few weeks ago.)  He fixed some drawers and put new hinges on the computer armoire.  That is one of the things that has to find a new home. It actually belongs to him.  I think that he will put it on ebay,   He finally took his Grandfather’s table and Grandmother’s picture home with him.

Here’s a few pictures of those projects.

screen door screened canopy closed armoire open armoire

He is not only a big help for me but very generous too.  He brought a solar light that I put out on the deck until I find a better place, and also a water feature and of course he put them together.

DSCF0004  DSCF0006

I know, I’m very lucky to have him available every now and then to help me.  He had to get back to San Francisco to his job on Monday morning.   Thank you sooooo much, Ted.

There is so much to do to get this place to a point where I  can stage it for selling.  One of these weekends we will paint the ceilings and another we can start the walls.  We are even considering  converting part of the living room into a third bedroom.   That might help it to sell easier.   Just one step at a time,  Some are baby steps although it would be nice for some giant leaps occasionally.

It’s Monday, back to work,   Glad to have the job,  It keeps me afloat until I can be out there too.  Enough said!

Thanks for letting me share and for  visiting.

Decision, Road trip. First Hike

Last night I got a call from the insurance adjuster.  He will  finally come out on Monday.  Hopefully they will cover the whole thing.  In the meantime I will be enjoying the convertible.

This morning I will be meeting with Gypsy (On The Road Again).  We will be going to check out Bassi Falls.  It is near Pollack Pines, CA.  It is supposed to be an easy (beginner) hike.  That’s me, the beginner.  I have to begin somewhere.  I’ll see if I can handle it.

I will try to remember to take pictures.

LATER:   I picked up Gypsy and headed east on Hwy. 50, through Placerville, past Pollack Pines to Ice House Road.  This whole area has a lot of places to camp (a very popular spot).  We followed the directions in one of the brochures that I picked up at an Information Center at the Outlet Mall in Folsom.

DSCF0001 DSCF0008

taken from behind the information center               Gypsy,  Angel’s in the car

It took about an hour to get there. there a couple of information centers where you can pick up permits.  Most of the way is on paved roads, but the last mile or so is a dirt road.  We got to the end of the road but there were No Parking signs all over.  So we went back to where there were other cars parked and tried to find the trail to the falls.  We had to make our own trail and did find the creek, but not the falls.

We climbed back up to the car and had our lunch.

DSCF0010 DSCF0012

Some of the stuff we had to go over or around.

DSCF0013

Angel is all tuckered out.  She did really good !

On the way out we stopped  at one of the information centers to find out about the no parking signs.  They said that  we could  have parked there but on the other side. Now we know for next time,  I think maybe next year during the Spring or early Summer when it is at it’s peak flow.

We still had an enjoyable trip, got a little sun and wind in our hair.  I got that first hike done.  I’m glad that I got some hiking poles last year.  I wouldn’t have been able to do this hike without them.  Now I have to go on more hikes to build up my stamina.

Everything toward the GOAL!

Thanks for joining us on our Road Trip.

New Ride (only temporary)

Tuesday,  nothing really happened except that I finally got a call from the insurance company,  too late to do any.thing.

I get to drive a black Ford Mustang convertible.  Wow , it sure is a nice drive.  Of course I had to drop off the van after I got off work and before I could go home to let Angel out.  She is such a good girl, no accidents.  She is crate trained and is in it on days when I work for 12 hours.

Now I have to figure out where we can go to enjoy the car.  One more day of work this week.  I may just take a drive in no particular direction just to drive.  I’ll let you all know where I end up.  In the mean time it’s off to bed.

NOT an Ordinary Day

It may have started that way,  but it is very SPECIAL!.  Today 8-9-10, my second great grandson was born in Virginia Beach VA.  Nick and Jessica King are the proud parents of Carter Alexander King,  7 lbs, 19 3/4 ins. His big brother is Hunter Orion King.

First two are Carter  last one Hunter.

Carter King Carter Alexander King 8-9-10 Hunter Orion King

They are one of the reasons for wanting this lifestyle.  Unfortunately I haven’t met Jessica or my great grandsons yet.  They will be moving to Hawaii in September.  Hopefully I will be able to go to Hawaii to visit, maybe next year.  At least the rest of the grand kids are still in the states, two in Texas (Mary and Charlie), and four more in Arizona (Svea Alise, Elyzabeth, Robert and Katie).  Actually two more steps, Jesse and Christopher in Arizona.

Exciting day on the east coast and west coast.  Anything else that happened pales next to the above.  With that being said  I’ll close for tonight.

Short post – Nap and Phone Calls

Another short post.  Just church today, a nap and phone calls to my brother and sister.  My brother will be having back surgery on Thursday. My sister is still trying to figure out if Rving with me is possible. I also talked with my son trying to figure out what to do to the mobile to make it more salable  (is that a word?).   This is my son Ted and his Dodge.

SANY0009

Other than reading blogs and little bit of Spider Solitaire, I couldn’t get motivated to do anything. Hope everyone had a great weekend.  now to get ready for another work week.  Even if it is only 4 days, it seems a lot longer.

Road Trip

This morning I packed up Angel in her crate, (that’s what she rides in) and hit the road.  After stopping only  to pick up my prescriptions and fill the tank with gas, (I didn’t want to run out of gas on a lonely back road in the mountains where I probably had no signal), we headed east on Hwy. 50 to Placerville and then northeast to a friend’s house.  They are in the midst of remodeling after they had “flood” damage due to some pipes leaking while they were gone for several days. Nearly every room was affected.  They have a beautiful two story home way up in the Sierra Foothills on 2+ wooded acres.

DSCF0007 DSCF0010

Thank you Renate for the tour and introducing Angel to her new friends.

DSCF0009

That’s Angel in the middle of all the boys. Rusty is in the doorway of their RV (trailer),  Boris is on the stairs next to Angel and Rio is in the front.  Rusty is terrier (Cairn I think), the same size as Angel,  Boris and Rio are beautiful Russian Wolfhounds.  From what Renate tells me they RV very well.    We had a nice visit  and I had to get back down to the valley to get ready for dinner with some friends.

On the way there this is the bridge that I had to cross (limit 5000 pounds).

Those are just wooden planks that you drive across,  NO trailers.  Here are some pictures that I took on the way back, different route.

Bigger bridges going this way,  The river is one of the forks of the American River.  In the last picture you can see a house on the other side of the canyon.

I was home for a little while then out to meet some friends for a Birthday dinner.

Happy Birthday Karen!   We had a wonderful meal at The Greek Village Restaurant in Sacramento.  That’s Kyle and Karen.

Gee, you would think that  getting out and seeing the scenery would help fill a need, but it just makes me want to get out there more and see more. If I can’t call it “hitch itch'” when I have nothing to hitch to, what is it?   It will just have to do for now.

Flying days, Eyes issues, Rat Incident Update

Where do the days go?  It’s already Friday.  It is absolutely gorgeous weather, light breeze, in the 80’s.  Cool in the shade, warm in the sun, perfect for me,

No post for the last two days.  Wednesday I just had nothing to say, It was just the normal work day.  Thursday at work we had our team summer party off sight,  Hooray off the phones for two hours.  We went to a restaurant called Sumari Sushi.  I offered to drive my van, cause I just like to drive.  It was a short drive, but we got to know a little more of our coworkers out of the context of work.  It was a nice break, good company, food was just okay.  After I got back to work I took a couple of calls, but left early to go to the eye doctor.  I had a aching pain around my right eye, although it didn’t affect my vision.  After several tests including her dilating both eyes, fortunately, nothing wrong with the eye, but she couldn’t tell why I was having the pain and suggested that I see my PCP.( I’m waiting to hear from her.)      LATER: Finally  saw my doctor, she’s not sure what it is , possibly a sinus infection or hormonal changes due to my weight loss.  Tylenol helps.   This too will pass, and something else will come around.  My favorite saying “It is what it is, Deal with it”. I’m dealing!!!!

I can now sympathize with Gypsy.  Trying to drive  when you are having problems with your eyes is no fun.  I had to drive from Sacramento to Yuba City before my eyes were back to normal.  I went to training session for a venture that might help bring in a little bit of $$ for now but also when I am go FT. Right now I want to try out the products to see if I like them.  So far So good for the ones that I have tried.  I didn’t get back home until 10pm. (eyes back to normal by then.)  That’s the reason no post last night.

RATS!!!!   If you recall, back in July I posted about repairs done to my car.  Still waiting to hear from my insurance company for approval of a claim.  I called them, they still need something more from the dealership.  I called the dealer, they refaxed the paperwork. More waiting.   Hope they approve the supplemental claim.

Earlier today I went out to check out a couple GPS units.  Tom Tom has a couple that have lifetime streets and map updates.  Staples had them on sale for $169.00 and $219.00.  Costco had one of them for $199.00, not sure which model. Has anyone heard anything about the Tom Tom?

More errands to  run.  I need a road trip even if it is only to the store or doctor’s office.  It gets me outside in this beautiful weather.  I’m back.  I really did enjoy the day.  Should be another good one tomorrow.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, not too hot and not too wet.  Enjoy whatever you have.

Unexciting, Uneventful, Work Day

One more work day gone, one day closer to the road. It is hard to come up with something  to post on days that I work. Not much time to do much of anything.

I fixed a quick dinner in the Ready Set Go.  I made a personal size chicken an vegetable pizza.  Later I made some lemon pudding and still later I made a lemon flavored protein shake, except I am freezing it so it will be more like ice cream.

Because I had to commit to exercising, I used the stairs at work and took Angel for a walk when I got home.  I think she would rather have just stayed home.  It was hot out there.  I waited a while for the rush hour traffic to be almost over before I ventured out in the car.  I went to the bank (ATM).  I was running low on cash. I then took the car to the Car Wash, one of the handy dandy drive thru kind.  First time for Angel.  I’m not sure what she thought.  In and out of there in 3 or 4 minutes, then it was back home.

Did the dishes, and now off to bed.  I hope that you all had a wonderful day and maybe a little more exciting than my day.

Short post, New work week

Home doing the watering,  Grabbed something for dinner, and catching up on everyone's blog.  One thing that I have been trying to do is to show my reading list with the links to the blogs that  I follow on my page where my followers are.  I just haven’t figured it out yet.  Any suggestions?  I’m sure it’s easy, but I’m just missing it.

Update on my doctor’s appointment,  didn’t actually see the doctor, it was the nurse who does the follow ups and the nutritionist.  The check up was for the 6 month follow up to Bariatric surgery that I had on January 4th of this year.  All the lab work came back good, and of course I need to exercise more.  I already knew that.

That’s the reason for my protein shakes and small amounts of food.  I have lost 39 pounds since surgery and will continue losing.  My inspiration is my daughter who has lost 165 pounds and the fact that I have the goal of RVing and living a more healthy lifestyle.  Does that mean more exercise in my future?   I hope so, but on my terms, housework, painting, yard work. LOL ,sorting, tossing, donating, whatever it takes.  Then later short hikes, museums etc.

Soon to bed.  I’ve got to turn off the water first.  Good night all.

Lazy day after Shoe shopping

Sunday I go to church.  After that, just another lazy day,   I have been wanting to get another pair of sandals, so off to the Folsom Outlet Mall I went. I was on a mission.  I found some that I liked, but wasn’t about to pay $50.00 for sandals, so kept looking.  I finally found some for half that.  I wanted some that were of a higher quality and had some arch support, since that is mostly what I wear all summer.  I, of course had to check out the Le Gourmet store for kitchen gadgets. I am now the owner of  an individual French coffee press.  The perfect size for me.  It makes a good cup of coffee.

Another good thing  that I did, was a lot of walking.  It was about 3x’s what I normally do :)  It wasn’t too bad,  Since I have had knee replacements and lost a lot of weight, I find that getting around is a lot easier.  I want to be able to see and do, once I get out on the road.  Baby steps, but it is all for the goal of RVing.  The health issues are the important goals to tackle.  When it comes down to getting rid of the STUFF, that will be the easy part,  There isn’t that much that I want to keep.  If the kids don’t want it,  it will be donated or tossed.

The rest of the day I didn’t do much of anything,  Had a salad with chicken, tomatoes (from a friends garden), walnuts and cranberries with raspberry vinaigrette dressing for lunch, very good.  I watched a couple of old movies and took a nap.  I had to get rested for the next taxing work week. LOL  Also tomorrow is my belated 6 month checkup after surgery.  Not looking forward to them telling me that I have to exercise more.  I already know that!

It’s time to let Angel out so that we can go to bed.

Thanks for visiting
