Last Few Days In Santa Cruz

IMG_1183   Angel get’s to ride with me.  She’s in a crate and secured, so that I don’t have to worry about her.

A couple of weeks ago we drove up to the University of California, Santa Cruz campus to see if I could get some pictures overlooking the city of SC.  It was a bit overcast,so the quality isn’t very good.  We also spotted a family of deer along the highway and a squirrel on the campus.

After leaving the campus we headed down to the beach.  There is a steep set of stairs giving access for surfers.  There were a lot of surfers at this first location.

Here’s another access further along the coast and more surfers.  It was a really nice day and there seemed to be some nice waves.

Heading further south on West Cliff Drive, we went down to the Municipal wharf and got these pictures.  Those buildings house restaurants and gift stores.  That’s a bit of seaweed floating.  Then there’s the sea lions and the birds.

A week or so I had my last appointment for PT.  Below is my Physical Therapist, Chris, me and his Tech, Gilbert.

Here’s another access to the beach, however it is on East Cliff Drive, right off the street.  There’s even a paddle boarder, lots of sand and several people had a fire going.

I will miss going down to the beach when I leave here on Sunday.  I really haven’t done much else while I was here for the last four months, just shopping, doctor and physical therapy appointments,  Being near the ocean has certainly helped in my recovery, but it’s time to get back to work and hopefully save some money.

I hope that you all are having a wonderful day.  I know that I am, because there’s no snow. (my daughter reports that there’s the white stuff coming down in Ft. Worth)

Reflections

This is definitely what I will miss when I move back to Grant Co Park next month.  As much as I have complained about being cold and wet this winter, I still love the area, the beach, watching the surfers the sea and the birds.  It would be a great place to park the wheels, however it probably isn’t a thing that I could afford to do.  I guess that I will have to play the lottery.  LOL

I haven’t done much in the last 2 weeks, except enjoy being warm and toasty with a few books. I have been continuing my PT, (just a few weeks to go).  It’s a matter of getting my strength back.  Most of my mobility is back.  Once I’m back working it will get much better.  Since I’ve been here in Santa Cruz, I’ve been lazy.  I will have to change that.  Retirement is a two edge sword.  It’s nice, not having to go to work and all that goes with it.  The other side is not going to work and all that goes with it.  I think that is why I like workamping.  It’s a compromise, working on your own terms, and still having time to do other things or not if that’s what you want.  Sitting here these past few months has been a bit boring at times, but that’s been my own fault.

I think of all the things that I could be doing, but I just can’t get inspired.  Maybe, it’s because there is no one to share anything with.  It would be better then, but I will just have to live with the fact that I am doing this solo.  It’s just not as much fun.

Later, today, I have to pay for this site for one more month.  So after I do that, I think that I may just go down to the beach and take some more pictures.  I'm sure that Angel would be happy to take a ride.
