Out Of Surgery, Fed and Rested

The day started early, 4:00 am.  Out on the road by 5:00 am.  No breakfast, Sandi did stop on the way together coffee.  I got registered and we waited for nurse to bring us back to get me prepped for surgery.  I was poked and prodded and Sandi passed out, LOL.  Something about a needle going right through a vein.   Pretty soon I was in LA LA LAND.  Next thing I know I'm in recovery, time 10:20 am getting scanned and questioned.   Who are you, when were you born?  That continues to happen everytime they give you something or do something.   When I leave I will definitely know who I am!

I was gettin a bit hungry and had a turkey Cesar salad and lemon bars (one tiny bite finally topped off the tummy).
By the time Sandi left she had everything within reach and then returned to "My Spot" to rescue Angel and take her back home.  So now she and Charlie will keep her company while I'm here recovering.

I want to thank you all for your concerns, kind wishes and prayers.  They all worked!!!
Oh yea, I even got a few hours of sleep.

Thanks again and thanks for visiting
Susan and Angel

  2. I'm so glad it's over and that the surgery went well. You sound really good! Now all you have to do is recover and do all the physical therapy to get back to normal. Or, I guess it would be - get back to better than normal.

Take care, Susan, and a speedy recovery to you. :)

  3. I'm impressed by your speedy recovery from surgery or should I say anaesthetic.

Anaesthetics knock me around for a minimum of 3 days no matter what I tell them. I'm hoping my eyelid surgery is local and the face lift planned to follow, to straighten the Bells Palsy twist. If general aesthetic is required I will probably bail out.

Now it's just a matter of getting things working again and that does take work, therapy and time. Glad you have family to take care of you and Angel.

    Blessings.

  4. So here we go.... Mom wanted me to do my own "blog" however I'm stubborn (as you've all seen already). So Sunday I'm at the Ranger baseball game and my mother calls to tell me something random... I agree cause I can't hear over the game and the fans... "Mom I'll be there after I get the kids settled". Got my son situated then dropped my daughter off and headed to mom's "Spot". Get there and she wants to change bags... got all that taken care of, tanks emptied (super easy on the MH) and then time to go to bed... Angel was upset cause she wanted to be on mommy but that wasn't going to happen!! Angel ended up in bed with me on mom's bed (I didn't sleep much cause that dog RUNS in her sleep *but no other time lol*). Up at 4am Monday and out by 5.... MUST have coffee was my statement. They get her in the "Bear Paws" and yep you guessed it, I was jealous!!! Now off to the 5bazillion questions of who are you, what are you having done, etc. Art (pre-op nurse) was trying to get her IV started and when he pierced the vein it went RIGHT through the other side... the alcohol got me and I took a walk and OUT I was in the hall LOL, I come to and there is a GIANT nurse standing above me (I swear he was 7 foot tall!!!!) asking me if he could get me a wheel chair. I sat there for a min with a cool wash cloth and then took a short walk and back in before they take her off. They get her in the "Bear Paws" and yep you guessed it, I was jealous!!! Her anesthesiologist said that if she didn't take all her meds I could have them (of course she used them all up LOL). They proceed to kick me out cause it's "GO TIME" and off to the waiting room I go.

I field the texts and calls and posts on my FB about prayers and well wishes, clip my coupons & stay bored while waiting. Dr Milne comes out about 10:15 to let me know all was good and that it was as bad as we expected but she's doing good but will hate him for the next few days lol. I go back to recovery and she was already "awake" and coherent and ready to be moved. Man these nurses are QUICK... I was out of the room for about 5 minutes (long enough to move my car to the back of the hospital to get her bag out) and they had her COMPLETELY set up, hooked up and lights dimmed! My friend Pastor Shane came up to meet her (his church is right down the road so he came to see us) and say some prayers with me. Shane is an awesome friend (he also shaved his head for our friend's daughter Abigail, you know the one that mom cut her hair and donated for). He had to get some things done at the church so off he went... and said a few more prayers with me. Lunch/Breakfast or just FOOD time shall I say... After she ate, I went ahead and left, made a call to her surgeons office and set up her 2 week post-op appoint as he asked me to do, stopped at Target and used some of my coupons (love my coupons and savings) and get my great deals and then off to get Angel.

  5. "WHERE'S MOMMY?!?!?!?!" -view from Angel's eyes
I get to the MH and let Angel out, she RUNS outside to find mommy (in my car), no see her, runs to the other side tries to get in and STILL NO MOMMY!! She RUNS up the stairs looks on the bed, in the bathroom, in the chair and still.... (you guessed it) NO MOMMY! She lays on the floor in the bathroom "I'm NOT MOVING!" I put her outside, get her things put in the car and off we go, back to my place. Angel will be with me for the week (probably till Friday when I know mom's meds are in control. I let her get settled and she is steadily staring out the window cause she's STILL looking for MOMMY!

I picked up my daughter from school and brought both kids up there (mom's request to see them both tonight) but we only stayed for a little while cause my daughter has a ton of homework. Well I'm EXHAUSTED and mentally drained... ready for BED and it's only 7:15 (I'm gonna SLEEP!!!).

Angel is STILL looking for her mommy and I feel bad cause she's not gonna find her tonight... She'll be good though!

Thanks for stopping by and listening to the ramblings from #2 Thanks for your prayers and well wishes for mom... ya'll please keep it up and help encourage her to get moving!

  9. This is such wonderful news! Sandi, you forgot to mention to me today that little tidbit of you passing out. LOL. Glad you're okay. I loved your posts/comments - not ramblings at all. Susan, glad you are doing so well! You might want to quit trying to move your glued fingers tho. That story cracked me up too. Love the high spirits and am looking forward to your full recovery. Love and hugZ, D

  10. Susan,
I know what you mean about trying to get sleep in a hospital. Seems they're always prodding, poking, waking, cleaning...something. Take care of yourself and get well quick.

    1. This time they woke me up for vitals. Noe to get tired enough to go back to sleep. At least it's not a big change from my previous sleeping habits when I was gate guarding.

  11. You sounded great when we talked yesterday so I'm hoping you will have a quick and relatively pain free recovery and good physical therapy so you can get to do the things you want to do.
