Happy Easter Everyone From GSP

                              DSC00993

Here’s who visited (GSP) Garner State Park today.  He rode around the park tossing out candy to the kids.   He then came back to the (VC) Visitor’ Center to take pictures with the kids.   Members of (FOG) Friends of Garner sold Sausage Wraps and Chips.  This is one of their fundraisers for the year.

Earlier I went up to Headquarters to work the Day Use Gate that I had trained for  last Wednesday, but since there were so many people there ( they anticipated it to be extremely busy because of the Easter Holiday) I only answered phones for a couple of hours.  the weather was a bit damp ( mist and drizzle) so I was able to leave.  It cleared up by noon, so I then went over to the VC to do some face painting.  It was a big hit.  I even talked some of the adults to have their faces painted too. (Yes even the men)    This is the first time that GSP has had a face painter for this fundraiser.  I suggested that they put out something for tips, since we weren’t charging.   It was a big success.  They were able to get a little bit extra for FOG.

No pictures of me painting, forgot to ask some one to take one.

We were done by 2:00 pm.  Since Angel wasn’t with me I decided to go over to the Pavilion were there was a sale going on.  There wasn’t anything that I needed or wanted, so I got out of there with may wallet intact.  While there, I got some pictures of the information boards,  Hopefully they are readable when you click on them to enlarge them.

When I finally got back home I let Angel out and left the door open (not the screen).  For the last few days I have been visited by these butterflies.  I was able to get a picture of one on my step, but they seem to like my patio rug.  At times there have been as many as a dozen on the rug.

The rest of the day was spent reading and napping.  All in all it was a fun day.  I was happy,  the kids were happy, their parents were happy and the staff was happy.

Happy Easter and have a Blessed Day.

Thanks for visiting

  1. Too bad you didn't get a picture of your face painting gig. You must be pretty good if even the men were doing it lol!! That looks like a really fun place and I hope you enjoy your stay. Looks like Angel was a good girl while you were busy.

  3. I am really enjoying reading your blog posts! Since I've never workcamped, your posts are giving me some new info. A lot of times I've read more negative things, the posters were being honest and I appreciate that, but it's nice to read some positive things, too. It sounds like you landed in a really nice place.

I like that they have you doing different things in different areas of the park. That is what I would want.
